Speak No Evil, a new Blumhouse thriller starring James McAvoy, has pushed its release date back to September 2024.
Per Deadline, Blumhouse and Universal’s Speak No Evil was originally intended to be released on August 9, 2024; however, the movie will now hit United States theaters on September 13, 2024.
Had it opened on August 9, Speak No Evil would’ve had to compete against Lionsgate’s Bordlanders movie, which is being directed by Eli Roth, and MGM’s Flint Strong.
It will now go head-to-head with Transformers One, an animated prequel movie directed by Josh Cooley featuring a voice cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm, and Laurence Fishburne.
What do we know about Speak No Evil?
Speak No Evil is a remake of the 2022 Danish psychological horror movie Gaesterne. Directed by Christian Tafdrup, the movie starred Morten Burian, Sidsel Siem Koch, Fredja van Huêt, and Karina Smulders.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Speak No Evil “centers on a family that takes a dream holiday to an idyllic country house, only to have the vacation turn into a psychological nightmare.”
The movie was written and directed by James Watkins, who previously made 2008’s Eden Lake, 2012’s The Woman in Black, and 2016’s Bastille Day.
McAvoy has worked with Blumhouse before, as he starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, which was released in 2016, and the sequel (which also served as a sequel to 2000’s Unbreakable) Glass, which debuted in 2019.
In addition to McAvoy, Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Blade Runner 2049), Scoot McNairy (A Quiet Place Part II, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and Alix West Lefler.
Speak No Evil releases in United States theaters on September 13, 2024, from Blumhouse and Universal.
