The Death Tour

Exclusive The Death Tour Clip Previews Chris Jericho’s Wrestling Documentary

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive clip from The Death Tour, a documentary executive produced by wrestling superstar Chris Jericho, and telling the story of wrestling in some of the most remote locations in the world.

The Death Tour follows wrestlers across wrestlers as they travel across Canada’s far north in what is known as “the death tour,” a tour of wrestling shows that is both famous for its star-studded alumni and known for its physical hardships. It features pro wrestlers Sage “The Matriarch” Morin, Sean “Massive Damage” Dunster, Dez “The Eskimofo” Loreen, Sarah “The Scottish Warrior” McNicoll, and tour promotor Tony Condello.

Who is in The Death Tour?

“Each winter, when the lakes freeze over, a motley gang of professional wrestlers leaves Winnipeg on a one-of-a-kind wrestling trip through remote Indigenous communities of Northern Manitoba,” reads the official synopsis for the film. “Wrestling insiders call it the ‘Death Tour’ – both for the physical hardships endured on the road and the emotional toll it takes on those who experience it. Famous for its star-studded alumni, the trip offers wrestlers a rare taste of fame and a chance to see if they have what it takes to make it in professional wrestling. This deeply personal documentary travels through Canada’s frozen North and into the wrestlers’ minds as they battle the elements, each other, and the impacts of our colonial past.”

The Death Tour is having its premiere on January 19, 2024, at the 2024 Slamdance Film Festival, where it will also have a handful of screenings. It is directed by Stephan Peterson, co-directed by Sonya Ballantyne, and produced by Stacey Tenenbaum and Sergeo Kirby.
