Randy Orton, who is a future Hall of Famer with a career spanning over two decades, expressed his desire for a WrestleMania dream match. Orton, having headlined WrestleMania against top stars like The Undertaker, CM Punk, and Triple H, now sets his sights on John Cena. The rivalry between Cena and Orton is well-known among fans.
During an appearance on WWE’s “The Bump,” The Viper shared his dream of facing Cena for a title at WrestleMania. Orton expressed: “A dream match for me would be to somehow find myself in a situation where I’m fighting Cena at WrestleMania for the title. I don’t know how you get there; I’m not saying it’s gonna happen. But I have never wrestled John at WrestleMania in a singles match. We had some wars back in the day, so being able to revisit that after all this, I think it’s not only something that I would want; I think the fans would eat it up too,” he said.
It’s noteworthy that while Orton faced Cena at WrestleMania 24 in a triple-threat match, he now eyes a singles match against Cena, reigniting a classic rivalry.
Potential match for Randy Orton at WrestleMania 40
Randy Orton recently returned to Survivor Series: WarGames. Orton is now challenging WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a fatal four-way match at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Despite this, Roman Reigns is anticipated to retain his title at the Royal Rumble. Especially with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teasing a potential match against the Tribal Chief. Speculation also includes Cody Rhodes joining the mix to face Reigns. This leaves questions about Orton’s opponent at WrestleMania 40.
Orton might target the current WWE United States Champion, Logan Paul. Paul is set to defend his title against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble. If Paul retains, Orton could emerge as a formidable challenger for a WrestleMania 40 showdown in Philadelphia.
