Vijay Sethupathi‘s upcoming film Maharaja marks the 50th film in his career. However, the makers have not yet announced the theatrical release date. Amidst this, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Netflix announced that the Maharaja is coming soon to the platform.
On January 16, 2024, the makers of the film unveiled the second poster of the film, coinciding with Vijay’s birthday. The poster showcases Vijay Sethupathi in fierce and riveting looks. Earlier, the first poster also features Vijay in badly injured condition, seated on a chair with a knife in hand while some police officers look on in the background. Both posters include heavy bloodshed, indicating that the movie will be a raw action film with many violent sequences.
Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the film will feature Vijay Sethupathi in the centric role. Alongside Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natarajan Subramaniam are in the supporting roles. Notably, Anurag Kashyap is expected to play a negative role. Dinesh Purushothaman took the charge of cinematographer while Ajanesh Lokhnath composed the music for the film. Maharaja’s director is known for his work in Kurangu Bommai (2017).
When is Vijay’s Maharaja coming out on OTT?
As per the sources, the film’s shooting is in its final stage, and makers are pushing to wrap up as soon as possible, for a grand theatrical release. Ahead of its theatrical release, Netflix India South, through its X (formerly Twitter), has confirmed that Maharaja will be soon available on the platform after its theatrical release. Additionally, it will be available in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, a bilingual film is produced under the banner of Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures.
