People planning to watch Ted the series are wondering if Mark Wahlberg returns to team up with his stuffed bear pal in the latest series. So, here’s all you need to know about whether he joined the Ted TV show’s cast.
Does Mark Wahlberg return in the Ted TV show on Peacock?
Mark Wahlberg does not appear as John Bennet in Peacock’s new Ted series.
Mark Wahlberg was the leading man alongside Seth MacFarlane’s Ted in the original two movies. So with Ted coming back in TV format alongside a new cast, fans assumed that Mark Wahlberg could at least make a cameo.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t return as the series is confirmed to be a prequel. It is set in 1993 during John Bennet’s younger years. So instead of Wahlberg, Max Burkholder plays Ted’s partner in crime.
Why Mark Wahlberg does not appear in the Ted series?
Mark Wahlberg does not come back in the Ted series primarily because it is a prequel and because of his busy schedule.
When Seth MacFarlane was asked about the reason Wahlberg didn’t show up, he told TheWrap:
“The practical reason is Mark Wahlberg’s schedule. He’s got a million movies he’s working on at any given time, and so getting him to do a television series — his schedule just doesn’t permit that, let alone something that potentially goes for more than one season. It’s just tough. It doesn’t take too long to get to the idea of a prequel once you’re looking at that reality.”
While Peacock’s Ted was in development, Wahlberg was busy with projects such as The Family Plan and Arthur The King, among others. So, when MacFarlane wanted to return to the Ted franchise, he decided that the next project had to be a prequel because of Wahlberg’s busy schedule.
But we could still hope that besides a potential Ted season 2, a Ted 3 could also happen with Wahlberg returning as John Bennett.
