The popular Disney Plus docuseries BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star aired two final episodes 7 and 8 on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 5 p.m. KST. The series follows the story of the popular South Korean band BTS and its members. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook talk about their decade-long career in music and their struggles.
The series gives their fans, also called ARMYs, an inside look into the members’ achievements and their worldwide success. It also gives the fans an insight into the band’s journey.
In Episodes 7 and 8 of BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star, BTS spoke about their individual as well as group goals that they hope to achieve in the near future. Throughout the two episodes, the members focused on the concept of happiness, creating their personal space, building both individual and group identity, and ensuring a safe and healthy return from the military to reunite as a reorganized group. As J-Hope said, BTS will continue to exist if the members and their fans have faith in each other.
BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star Episodes 7 & 8
Episode 7 of BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star began with the members discussing their concert experiences. While some had specific memories dating back to 2016, other members, including Jimin, felt that each concert was a special and different experience for the group. The episode included their performances at the Rose Bowl Stadium in California, the Olympics Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, and more.
The episode further showcased all the members’ transitions into living in their houses. Each house reflected the members’ tastes. Jimin reflected on how the process naturally took place and how they needed their own space. V confessed that he liked being alone and found happiness in small things. Meanwhile, RM revealed that his new home inspired him to read, create music, and write lyrics.
Jimin and Jungkook spent time cooking and talking at the former’s house. Jimin spoke about an argument with his friend and how that led to the discovery of his suppressed feelings. He stressed the concept of happiness, hoping that people don’t stress over finding it and rather take it as it comes. Suga revealed that by his late 20s, all his worries and troubles had disappeared. Essentially, the members hoped for a fresh start.
Meanwhile, Episode 8 of BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star had members talking about their enthusiasm for practicing for their concerts. They hoped to keep it the same even after they returned as a group. In one of his ending comments, J-Hope hoped that the members and their fans would continue to have faith in each other so that they could return stronger. RM hoped that they could continue to be 7 while also working on themselves as individuals, achieving an “ideal image.”
The episode continued to document the members’ individual lives. J-Hope reflected that the members were able to lead their own lives, gracefully accepting what was to come. Jin spent time with his friends, Jungkook prioritized his health, Suga went fishing, and some members chose to spend time at home. RM recalled what it felt like to run for two to three miles, which eventually felt like competing in the Olympics. The members stressed the need to go on a break.
The band hoped to live their lives to the fullest. While some were grateful for their past experiences, others stressed the need to build their identities. Jin hoped for the members to cheer each other on and achieve what they wanted for themselves. He expressed this as a way of being one step closer to finding their happiness.
HYBE Chairperson Bang Si-Hyuk expressed that the only wish he had for himself and BTS was that they would continue to love music and could gather to talk about it. He hoped that their decisions would lead to the group finding happiness and satisfaction.
By the end of the episode, the members had talked about their goals as individuals. Jimin wanted to challenge himself to do different things with the members’ support. Meanwhile, V hoped that the members could make a safe return from the military so that they could begin their next chapter. He further hoped to paint more memories with ARMYs.
Meanwhile, the scene further shifted to Jin getting his haircut ahead of his military enlistment. He wondered if the time apart from other members would hold any meaning. Jin stressed that they didn’t need to be together to consider each other family. The episode transitioned to each member releasing their solo albums.
At the end of the episode, the members expressed their gratitude to each other and the fans for their support. Suga hoped they could focus on the present and not worry about the future. Furthermore, as they looked on to the next chapter, V ended the episode by saying, “I’m thankful that we remained 7 for the past 10 years.”
