Adan Canto, who was known for his leading roles in The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor, has passed away at the age of 42.
Deadline has reported that Canto died following a private battle with appendiceal cancer. The outlet notes that the star was unable to take part in the filming of The Cleaning Lady Season 3 this past December due to his health and that the third season’s premiere will be dedicated to to the late actor.
Outside of The Cleaning Lady — where he played Arman Morales — Canto is know for playing Aaron Shore in Designated Survivor, Dominic in Mixology, Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and more. He also directed the 2014 short film Before Tomorrow and the 2020 short film The Shot. Prior to acting, Canto was a musician in Mexico City and was the lead singer of the jazz band Del Canto.
“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,” Canto’s reps at UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint stated. “He will be greatly missed by so many.”
Canto leaves behind his wife Stephanie Ann Canto and their two children, Roman Alder and Eve Josephine.
