FX’s Alien Series Adds New Recurring Character to Cast

According to Deadline, The Peripheral star Moe Bar-El has been tapped to join the Alien cast for FX’s upcoming spin-off series to Ridley Scott’s iconic sci-fi thriller franchise. Further details about his character are still being kept under wraps, but Bar-El is expected to play a “major recurring character.”

Meanwhile, the outlet has also revealed new information about Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant’s characters. Chandler is set to play a meta-human named Wendy who has a body of an adult but a brain and consciousness of a child. Olyphant will be playing Wendy’s mentor and trainer Kirsh. Production on FX’s Alien series is slated to resume later this month in Thailand.

Who’s involved in FX’s Alien series?

Described as the first-ever Alien story set on Earth, the untitled Alien series is written and directed by Noah Hawley. The series also stars Alex Lawther as soldier CJ, Kit Young as Tootles, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly and David Rysdahl. Further details about its plot are still being kept under wraps, but it was reportedly developed as a prequel story set before the Sigourney Weaver-led movies.

According to Hawley, the series will explore the more grounded aspects of the franchise. The director also touched on the inclusion of Weyland-Yutani — the massive corporation that’s found in nearly every Alien property — and how he plans to deliver a series that both captures the horror-action aspect of the Alien franchise and explores other themes established in the world.

The project is executive produced by Hawley, Scott, and Dana Gonzales with Chris Lowenstein production. In addition to the upcoming FX series, 20th Century Studios is also set to release a brand new installment to the Alien film franchise titled Alien: Romulus, which hails from director Fede Álvarez.
