Mortal Kombat 2 producer Todd Garner is teasing the return of Scorpion.
Garner shared a new set photo from Mortal Kombat 2 on his Twitter account. The picture features an up-close look at a kunai, the weapon famously used by Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, who was played by Hiroyuki Sanada in 2021’s Mortal Kombat.

What do we know about Mortal Kombat 2?
Mortal Kombat 2 is being directed by Simon McQuoid, who also directed 2021’s Mortal Kombat. The script comes from Jeremy Slater, with James Wan, Michael Clear, McQuoid, and E. Bennett serving as producers alongside Garner.
Slater previously confirmed the upcoming sequel would introduce Johnny Cage, played by The Boys’ Karl Urban, into the rebooted franchise. He told ComicBook.com in May 2022, “Johnny Cage is one of my favorite characters, and I think there’s definitely a promise with the way the first movie ends of seeing Cole being like, ‘Okay, my next stop is to go recruit Johnny.’ So I think if he wasn’t included in the sequel at all, it would feel very strange. It’s still a little bit up in the air how much he will be included, it’s one of the things we’re currently working on. But yeah, I love Johnny and I would love to really do the definitive version, if possible, and really take everything that’s fun about that character and bring that to live action.”
Mortal Kombat 2 will also star Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Noob Saibot, Josh Lawson as Kano, Max Huang as Kung Lao, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade.
Mortal Kombat 2 does not yet have a release date from Warner Bros.
