As of December 2023, My Life with the Walter Boys hasn’t been greenlit for season 2. This is expected as the series only premiered earlier this month, and Netflix is likely to assess the audience response to it before making any decision.
As mentioned above, My Life with the Walter Boys is based on a novel by Ali Novak, and the first season more or less covers the entirety of it, including the open ending. Novak has said in the past that there would not be any published sequel. However, after the Netflix show came out, she hinted in a recent post on her website (FAQs) that she might have some plans in that regard. She said, “I may or may not be working on something exciting!”
According to Goodreads, a yet untitled sequel to My Life with the Walter Boys is on its way. If this turns out to be true, it can serve as the basis for the second season, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be published to perform that role. There are a considerable number of books the adaptations of which came out before their publications. This upcoming sequel is supposed to be from Jackie’s perspective and set after the events of book 1, so it will perfectly fit as the source material for the second season.
