Yes, according to Sam Raimi, who would have helmed Spider-Man 4, Anne Hathaway would have played Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat in the film as she was his top choice. However, the actress revealed that she had not gotten very far in the casting and audition process, even though she was cast in the role.
Sam Raimi revealed that Anne Hathaway would have played Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 if it had been made. He also stated that he loved her audition process for the now-canceled film. Prior to this development, Hathaway was reported to be playing an original character named Vulturess, who would have been the daughter of the Vulture, a role John Malkovich was cast in prior to the film’s cancelation.
However, Anne Hathaway herself recently spoke on the matter and stated in a recent appearance on the Happy, Sad and Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz that she had not gotten very far into the casting process around the time the film was cancelled by Sony, saying:
“I did not get into costume and did not read a script past the audition sides, I got the part and, yeah, it just… I think that’s probably more the producers’ story to tell than mine should they ever decided to tell it.”
