Atari and developer Digital Eclipse announced on Friday that Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration would receive a free content update next week.
The free update is set to arrive on December 5, 2023, and will ring in the holiday season with the addition of 12 fan-favorite Atari 2600 titles from the console’s era. These include titles that were officially released to homebrews, as well as Atari prototypes that never made their way out.
What games will be in the Atari 50 update?
In a tweet sent out on Friday, Atari teased some of the games coming with cryptic clues via emojis. It’s unknown exactly what games will be coming, but fans were quick to begin speculating. Among some of the popular theories include titles like Double Dribble, Maze Craze, Berzerk, Basketball, and some other Atari classics.
As it stands, Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration already contains an incredible amount of games. The game compiles a massive 103 video games from titles across a variety of consoles, including the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit computers, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, and Atari Jaguar.
The collection features classics as well as new games created specifically for the collection by Digital Eclipse. The bundle also features an interactive timeline that explores the history of Atari, taking players through five different eras of the company.
