Aadujeevitham Release Date Rumors: When Is It Coming Out?

Written, directed, and co-produced by National-Award-winning filmmaker Blessy and based on the 2008 namesake Malayalam novel by Benyamin, Aadujeevitham is an upcoming multi-national survival drama film. The plot revolves around Najeeb, an Indian immigrant worker who travels to Saudi Arabia for better prospects but becomes entangled in horrible circumstances, ending up as a goat herder in the Arabian desert. Oscar-winner A. R. Rahman composed the music for the film, and another Oscar-winner, Resul Pookutty, served as sound designer. If you are wondering when Aadujeevitham is coming out, we got you covered.

Here’s all the Aadujeevitham release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there an Aadujeevitham release date?

Aadujeevitham’s release date could arrive by the first quarter of 2024 at the earliest.

The film spent about four years in active production between 2018 and 2022 and was filmed in India, Jordan, and Algeria. In December 2022, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who portrays the main character, Najeeb Muhammed, stated that the plans were to premiere the film at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival before giving it a global release, adding that he wasn’t sure if the post-production would be finished by then. The actor also said that if Aadujeevitham missed that date, it would come out at the next major film festival.

The film wasn’t released at Cannes, nor at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, despite Blessy stating in May 2023 that they were hoping to premiere the film at the latter event. In November 2023, Prithviraj took to Instagram to announce that the film’s release date would be officially revealed on November 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. IST.

If the filmmakers still wish to release Aadujeevitham at a major film festival before giving it a worldwide release, the next likely candidate is the 74th Berlin Film Festival, which is slated to take place from February 15 to 25, 2024. The next festival at Cannes takes place between May 14 and May 25, 2024, and the film can potentially released there as well. Either way, the film can be released in theaters all over the world at least a month after those aforementioned dates.

Alternatively, the filmmakers might decide to give up on the festival premiere plans and release Aadujeevitham directly in the theaters. Even in that case, the film will likely come out in the first quarter of 2024 at the earliest.

This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.

Aadujeevitham stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as Najeeb Muhammed. The cast also includes Jimmy Jean-Louis, Amala Paul, Rik Aby, Talib al Balushi, and more.

The official synopsis for Aadujeevitham reads:

“The real-life incident of an Indian migrant worker, Najeeb Muhammad, who goes to Saudi Arabia to earn money. However, in a twist of fate, he finds himself living a slave-like existence, herding goats in the middle of the desert.”
