Serial Killings, Cannibalism and Assault: The Nithari Case Explained

A few weeks ago, the Allahabad High Court acquitted the accused of the horrific and infamous Nithari Case. The names of the accused are Surendra Koli and Moninder Singh Pandher. The reason for their acquittal is a lack of evidence. In 2006, they were accused of terrifying crimes like rape and murder. The court, in fact, previously sentenced them to death.

According to Hindustan Times, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice SHA Rizvi allowed the appeals filed by the two individuals.

Moninder Singh Pandher’s lawyer Manisha Bhandari released a statement that said, “The Allahabad High Court has acquitted Moninder Singh Pandher in the two appeals against him. There were a total of six cases against him. Koli has been acquitted in all appeals against him here.”

What did the accusers of the Nithari Case do?

According to the Hindustan Times, in 2006, the discovery of skeletal remains of eight children in a sewage drain, located near a house in Nithari village, Noida, shook the nation. Upon further investigation, the police discovered many more remains. They all belonged to children and young women from the same area.

The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) took charge of the investigation. Soon, they discovered more bones. All clues led to Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic helper, Surendra Koli. CBI took both of them under custody. Furthermore, Koli confessed to the crimes. He even confessed to raping the dead victims and consuming parts of their bodies.

In 2007, authorities filed 19 cases against Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli. These cases involved, murders, kidnapping, and rape, along with evidence destruction. Furthermore, Pandher was also charged with immortal trafficking.

According to Mint, the cops even suspected Pandher of running an international child pornography racket. They discovered his pictures with nude children. However, these accusations were soon removed when they learned that the kids were his grandchildren.
