Why are Apple TV Plus prices increasing in 2023?
Apple TV Plus prices are likely being raised to help increase the company’s revenue, as the streamer is also upscaling its content production to compete in the streaming wars.
Apple TV continues to offer original content month after month. TV Shows such as Ted Lasso season 3, Silo, Foundation season 2, Invasion season 2, Hijack, The Changeling, and several others launched in 2023 and got great acclaim from critics and fans alike.
With Disney+, Hulu, MAX, Netflix, Peacock, and several other streaming services increasing their prices in 2023, Apple TV+ had the lowest subscription price. Now that the platform is scaling up its content production, it is also raising its subscription prices to get closer to its competition (as per MacRumors).
Despite its high content quality, Apple TV is reportedly amongst the streamers with the lowest subscriber bases compared to other services in the same market, only ahead of Peacoc (via The Verge). So, to get closer to its competition and increase revenue in the streaming wars, the prices of Apple TV+ have gone up.
The streamer plans to launch several big-budget titles in the coming months to justify its price increase. The titles include Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Killers of the Flower Moon, Slow Horses season 3, Argylle, Napoleon, and Masters of The Air, among others.
What are the new Apple TV prices for 2023?
Apple TV’s monthly subscription has increased from $6.99 per month to $9.99 per month. Meanwhile, the annual subscription has increased from $69 per year to $99 per year in the U.S.
