It is a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. 20 decades after the defeat of Queen Bavmorda, evil starts to rise its head again. After the son of Sorsha and Madmartigan is kidnapped, his twin sister teams up with Willow and a few others to embark on a perilous rescue mission.

Is there a Willow Season 2 release date?
There is no Willow Season 2 release date as the series was canceled after the first season.
In March 2023, two months after the Season 1 finale debuted, Disney canceled the series. Kasdan subsequently took to social media to contradict the news of the cancellation, claiming that the series had simply been put on a hiatus. “A decision was made last week to release our main cast for other series opportunities that may arise for them in the coming year,” he wrote in a series of since-deleted posts, adding that neither he nor people at Lucasfilm, the production house behind the original film and the series, would characterize what happened to the show as a cancellation.
Kasdan went on to mention that the second season had been written and the series would resume filming in 12 months. However, as no other news has been heard about the project since then, it’s safe to presume that it will remain canceled.
Reports speculated that the cancellation happened because Disney, like other networks, was thinning down its streaming content for profitability. In May 2023, Willow became one of the more than 50 shows to be removed from the Disney Plus and Hulu libraries for cost-cutting reasons.
