The much-awaited teaser of The Matchmakers is here. Viewers longing to see Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun’s chemistry on-screen since the series’ cast announcement can finally see the duo as marriage experts in the newly released teaser of the Korean romantic comedy series.
Starring Rowoon (Destined With You) as Shim Jung-woo and Cho Yi-hyun as Jung Soon-deok, The Matchmakers is set to premiere on October 30, 2023, on KBS and will be available on Viki.
The teaser introduces the lead characters and hints at how fate will bring two widowed matchmakers together. Directed by Hwang Seung-Ki and Kim Soo-Jin, the K-drama series is set to make viewers’ hearts smile with its swoon-worthy story.

Sparks will fly as Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun’s characters go head-to-head in The Matchmakers
The Matchmakers centers around the lead characters, Shim Jung-woo and Jung Soon-deok. The newly released teaser shows the two locking horns and claiming to be the best matchmakers. Amid their battle, a spark of romance ignites.
Set in the Joseon dynasty era, Shim Jung-woo is a young widow and a brilliant scholar who cannot return to work or marry someone else. Meanwhile, Jung Soon-deok is a young widow who claims to be the best matchmaker.
The K-drama teaser begins with the background sound of a wedding march, followed by former SF9 member Rowoon’s character introducing himself as Shim Jung-woo. He says, “I have been writing appeals related to marriage annulment for eight years. There are no cases about marriage that I don’t know about.”
Soon after, Cho Yi-hyun’s character appears in the clip wearing a red jangot (women’s overcoat worn in the Joseon dynasty). She introduces herself as Jung Soon-deok and claims to be “the goddess of matchmaking.” While the two marriage experts decide to join forces to find partners for older men and women, their dynamic changes from hating each other to a budding romance. As it is, the 40-second teaser trailer indeed gave enough glimpses to viewers who expect a heart-fluttering story from this new Korean romantic comedy series.
The synopsis of The Matchmakers reads:
“A comedic romance set during the Joseon dynasty. It tells the story of the meeting between the young widow Jung Soon Deok and young widower Shim Jung Woo as well as the struggle the two go through together to marry off the four young maidens who represent Joseon.”
The South Korean romance comedy-drama series is set to premiere on October 30, 2023, at 9:45 PM KST on KBS every Monday and Tuesday. It will also be available to stream on Viki.
