What was Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer salary?
Cillian Murphy was reportedly paid a $10 million for his role as Robert J. Oppenheimer.
With a reported budget of $180 million, Christopher Nolan’s latest biopic packed a stellar cast full of Hollywood A-listers. Among them, Cillian Murphy got the highest payday playing the lead. This was also his biggest paycheck for one movie. However, his Peaky Blinders salary also earned him a huge sum as his fee allegedly rose to over $2.2 million per episode.
As for Murphy’s costars from Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. surprisingly took home an alleged $4 million salary for his supporting role of Lewis Strauss. He is known to have made a fortune out of his Iron Man roles, having been rumored to have gotten $15 million just out of his small cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming. For Oppenheimer, however, it appears that he agreed to a lower sum to simply cash in on the opportunity of working with Christopher Nolan.
Similar was the case for Emily Blunt and Matt Damon. Per Variety, Blunt, who played Kitty Oppenheimer, earned $4 million, while Matt Damon took also home $4 million for his portrayal of Leslie Groves. Florence Pugh also made $1 million starring as Jean Tatlock, Oppenheimer’s (other) love interest.
While these were the highest paychecks cashed out of Oppenheimer’s budget, Benny Safdie’s $700,000 salary for Edward Teller, Michael Angarano’s $500,000 for Robert Serber, and Josh Hartnett’s $400,000 to play Ernest Lawrence were also considerably high paydays for their limited screentime.
