Showtime has dropped the official Fellow Travelers trailer for its upcoming political thriller drama, starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey as political staffers who developed a passionate but risky romantic relationship with each other at the height of the 1950s Lavender Scare. The miniseries is slated to premiere on October 27.
The video highlights the decades-long forbidden love affair of Bomer’s Hawk and Bailey’s Tim. It teases the most challenging period of their relationship, as the government begins to target queer people as enemies of the state along with soviet spies.

What to expect in Fellow Travelers?
“It is an epic love story and political thriller, chronicling the clandestine romance of two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington,” reads the synopsis. “They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on ‘subversives and sexual deviants,’ initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history. Over the course of four decades, we follow our five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus, Lucy, and Frankie – as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.”
Based on Thomas Mallon’s novel of the same name, Fellow Travelers is created by Ron Nyswaner. The series stars Matt Bomer (Doom Patrol) as Hawkins Fuller, Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as Tim Laughlin, Jelani Alladin (The Walking Dead: World Beyond) as Marcus, Allison Williams (Get Out, Girls) as Lucy, and Noah J. Ricketts (American Gods) as Frankie.
The series is executive produced by Bomer, Nyswaner, Robbie Rogers, Dee Johnson, and Daniel Minahan, with the latter also directing the first two episodes. It hails from Fremantle and Showtime.
