Showtime released an official sneak preview for Fellow Travelers, the upcoming romance series based on Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel. Fellow Travelers premieres October 27 on Paramount+ with Showtime.
The preview features a conversation between Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) and Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), “two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington.” Hawkins and Tim start a romance during one of the “darkest periods in 20th-century American history,” with Roy Cohn and Joseph McCarthy declaring war on “subversives and sexual deviants.”

What to Expect in Fellow Travelers?
Bomer stars as Hawkins Fuller, “who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics.” Bailey plays Tim Laughlin, “a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith.” The supporting cast includes Allison Williams, Jelani Alladin, Noah J. Ricketts, Linus Roache, Will Brill, and Chris Bauer.
“Over the course of four decades, we follow our five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Alladin), Lucy (Williams), and Frankie (Ricketts) – as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves,” the official synopsis reads.
Fellow Travelers is created by Ronald L. Nyswaner, the Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of 1993’s Philadelphia. Nyswaner will executive produce alongside Bomer, Dee Johnson, Robbie Rogers, and Daniel Minahan, who directed the first two episodes.
