One Piece Netflix: Is Jango in the Live-Action Series?

With One Piece finally streaming on Netflix, some people wonder whether fan-favorite character Jango made it to the live-action adaptation. Is Jango in the live-action series? If not, why? Here’s what you need to know.

Is Jango in the One Piece live-action series?

Jango isn’t in the One Piece live-action series.

Fans can recognize the well-known One Piece Syrup Village Arc in episodes 3 and 4 of the live-action adaptation. Briefly, that’s when Monkey D. Luffy (portrayed by Iñaki Godoy) meets Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson) before they join forces to save Kaya (Celeste Loots) from the treacherous plan of Klahadore (Alexander Maniatis), a.k.a. Kuro, the Black Cat Pirates captain. Much to the fans’ surprise, Jango, who is the right-hand man of Captain Kuro in the source material, isn’t one of the characters who made it to the live-action adaptation.

Why isn’t Jango in Netflix’s One Piece?

Jango is one of the characters who have been cut from the live-action adaptation of One Piece.

Adapting a manga into a live-action series isn’t an easy job. Sometimes, parts of the source story and characters have to be cut. Jango is one of the victims of the adaptation. And it’s a pity as One Piece fans loved the Michael Jackson-inspired character with his spinning top hat and hypnotic pendulum.

What happens to Jango in One Piece?

Luffy and his crew defeat Jango in the Syrup Village Arc.

Despite his hypnotist skills, Jango didn’t win in the clash with the Mugiwara. During the Arabasta Saga, he joins forces with Fullbody before enlisting in the Marine. Jango is a beloved character because he offers some comic relief when he reappears in the story.

All eight episodes of One Piece are now available on Netflix.
