Peacock is assembling a brand-new animated Jurassic Park LEGO special.
Peacock shared a poster for a new Jurassic Park LEGO special on Twitter. “An animated special 65 million bricks in the making. Coming soon to Peacock.”
The poster describes the special as an “unofficial retelling” of the Steven Spielberg classic and includes a “one big pile of bricks” tagline, referencing a line spoken by Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm in the original film.
The voice cast and release date for the Jurassic Park LEGO special have not yet been revealed at this time.
In 2015, LEGO introduced a new Jurassic World wave of toys, sets, and video games based on the Colin Trevorrow-directed blockbuster of the same name. Similar sets were released alongside 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion. LEGO also put out a special called Lego Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit in 2018 and a miniseries titled Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar in 2019.
Jurassic Park: A franchise that keeps finding its way back to theaters
The original Jurassic Park was released theatrically in 1993. Based on the Michael Crichton novel and directed by Spielberg, the film stars Sam Neill, Laura Dean, Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough.
Following the massive success of Jurassic Park, Spielberg returned to direct a sequel in 1997, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. It was followed by 2001’s Jurassic Park III and the Jurassic World trilogy. Additionally, there are two Jurassic World short films — 2019’s Battle at Big Rock and 2021’s Jurassic World Dominion prologue — and an animated Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Netflix series that exist within the franchise.
Jurassic Park is currently playing in a number of theaters (both in 2D and 3D) for its 30th anniversary. It made approximately $1.7 million at the box office during the first weekend of its re-release, August 25-27.
