NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 19: SAG-AFTRA members and supporters protest as the SAG-AFTRA Actors Union Strike continues in front of Paramount at 1515 Broadway on July 19, 2023 in New York City. Members of SAG-AFTRA, Hollywood's largest union which represents actors and other media professionals, have joined striking WGA (Writers Guild of America) workers in the first joint walkout against the studios since 1960. The strike could shut down Hollywood productions completely with writers in the third month of their strike against the Hollywood studios. (Photo by John Lamparski/Getty Images)

Actors Strike: SAG Encourages Stars to Promote Movies With Interim Agreements

A new actors strike update encourages actors to promote movies with interim agreements.

SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July. This means that actors in the guild have not been allowed to perform in movie and TV productions not agreed to before the strike. It also means actors are not supposed to promote their projects under the current provisions.

Actors strike update

According to The Hollywood Reporter, SAG-AFTRA is giving the green light to actors who want to promote their projects during the upcoming fall film festivals, if the project has received an interim agreement from SAG.

This would allow projects like Michael Mann’s Ferrari starring Adam Driver and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla starring Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi to have press from actors.

“We are proud of our members who demonstrate the various ways to bolster the strike effort,” national executive director and chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said in a statement. “Whether it’s walking a picket line, working on approved Interim Agreement productions, or maintaining employment on one of our other permissible, non-struck contracts, our members’ support for their union is empowering and inspiring.”
