New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim release date has been pushed back as the film giant reconfigures its upcoming slate.
When will Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim come out?
The new Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim release date is set for December 13, 2024. It’s a sizable delay as it was originally set for April 12, 2024. Written by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, it will be a prequel set 183 years before The Two Towers and focus on Brian Cox’s Helm Hammerhand, who is the King of Rohan.
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the animated movie will star Cox, Gaia Wise, Miranda Otto, Luke Pasqualino, Lorraine Ashbourne, Yazdan Qafouri, Benjamin Wainwright, Laurence Ubong Williams, Shaun Dooley Michael, Jude Akuwudike, Bilal Hasna, and Janine Duvitski. It is produced by Joseph Chou.
“The Lord of the Rings films took Tolkien’s masterwork to new cinematic heights and inspired a generation,” said Warner Bros. Pictures Group Chairman Toby Emmerich. “It’s a gift to be able to revisit Middle-earth with many of the same creative visionaries and the talented Kenji Kamiyama at the helm. This will be an epic portrayal unlike anything audiences have ever seen.”
