Is there a Welcome to Derry release date?
The Welcome to Derry release date is predicted to arrive in 2024.
The series was initially supposed to stream sometime in 2023. But with the MAX rebranding announcement trailer in April, its release year was revealed to be 2024. We still don’t have a release window for the Pennywise-centric show. But it is expected to arrive in the first half of the year.
This window is an estimation based on the information we have so far. ComingSoon will provide an update to this story once we receive official details.
Like the two It Chapters, the upcoming series is also based on the source material provided by Stephen King’s novels. It will take place in the 1960s and lead into the first It film, giving us a deeper origin story for the horrifying Pennywise clown. However, Bill Skarsgård is not expected to be back.
While speaking with Variety, the head of MAX originals, Sarah Aubrey, revealed what we should expect from the series. She said:
“We have been working with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Andy Muschietti, and Barbara Muschietti very closely…They’re so deep into this mythology, and they have such a firm handle on the storytelling around these characters and also the demented scares that they’re putting into things. Sometimes I’m, like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ Just all the wild ways they think up to terrify us. You’ll be hearing more concretely about that development very soon… Andy is very involved in every bit of this, so that is the real recipe for success and for delighting fans.”
The cast involves Taylour Paige, Madeleine Stowe, Stephen Rider, Jovan Adepo, Chad Rook, Chris Chalk, and James Rema.
