WGA & AMPTP Set to Meet Again on Friday Amidst Strike

The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers are set to meet again this week amidst the ongoing strike.

When will the WGA and AMPTP bargain again?

The WGA and AMPTP are set to resume negotiations involving the ongoing strike on Friday, August 11. The AMPTP will be giving a response to the WGA’s proposals a week after WGA chief negotiator Ellen Stutzman met with AMPTP CEO Carol Lombardini last week.

“Carol Lombardini has asked the WGA Negotiating Committee to meet with AMPTP negotiators on Friday,” the union said (via Variety). “We expect the AMPTP to provide responses to WGA proposals. Our committee returns to the bargaining table ready to make a fair deal, knowing the unified WGA membership stands behind us and buoyed by the ongoing support of our union allies.”

Just yesterday, the WGA strike hit the 100-day mark and has now surpassed the length of the 2008 writers strike. SAG-AFTRA joined the WGA in striking, marking the first time actors and writers have so widely been on strike together since 1960. The strike is meant to address numerous topics, including streaming residuals and the use of AI in film and television.
