Rick and Morty executive producer Steve Levy says Season 7 of the acclaimed animated sitcom will stay the same or potentially be “even better” after co-creator Justin Roiland’s dismissal from the show.
Apart from co-creating the animated sci-fi series alongside Dan Harmon, Roiland also served as the voice for both titular characters, Morty and his maternal grandfather Rick, for six seasons. However, Adult Swim terminated its association with Roiland following his controversies earlier this year. As a result, the whole production went through massive changes.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the show’s executive producer admitted that quitting the project would have been the easier route, but the crew’s resilience and refusal to let one person drag all their hard work down kept the show going.
“We had a rug pulled from underneath us,” Levy stated. “The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, ‘I’m done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.’ But our crew said, ‘No, we’re not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.’ This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat.
“The work that we’re doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we’ll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!”
The award-winning show, which debuted in 2013, follows “the misadventures of an alcoholic scientist Rick and his overly nervous grandson Morty, who split their time between domestic family life and intergalactic travel.”
No release date has been set for Rick and Morty Season 7 at this time.
