Boy Meets World stars Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle have spoken out about the status of their relationship with series co-star Ben Savage.
Does Ben Savage still talk to his Boy Meets World co-stars?
In a Variety interview, Fishel, Friedle, and Rider Strong looked back on their experience making Boy Meets World. Towards the end of the piece, Fishel and Friedle revealed that Savage “disappeared” from their lives and hasn’t communicated with them in three years.
“He just kind of disappeared from our lives,” Fishel noted. “We were just so, so close, especially during that time. He was checking in with me regularly … He ghosted us.”
“He disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day,” Friedle stated. “We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day, and decided I don’t want this person in my life anymore … I finally sent a text saying, ‘I’ve known you for 30 years, what’s going on?’ I said, ‘I’m gonna call you every day until you tell me not to call you anymore.’ That lasted about three weeks or a month, every single day.”
Fishel explained that doing the Pod Meets World podcast with Friedle and Strong has taught her that “everyone is on their own journey” and that she doesn’t think this would be the end of their story with Savage.
“If there’s anything this podcast has taught me, it’s that everyone is on their own journey and having their own experiences that can be perceived many different ways, depending on your POV,” the actress said. “Speaking for myself, Ben and I may be estranged right now and we may have our complaints about each other, but I will always love Ben and want what’s best for him. I don’t think this is the end of our story — but time will tell.”
Boy Meets World first debuted in 1993 and followed clever 11-year-old Cory Matthews and his family and friends. The series ran for seven seasons and received a sequel series, Girl Meets World, in 2014. Fishel, Friedle, and Strong began rewatching the series while discussing their time on the show for their Pod Meets World podcast in 2022.
