“Sometimes, the worst is exactly what you should assume,” a maniacal Nicolas Cage remarks in RLJE’s trailer for Sympathy for the Devil. The physiological thriller starring Cage and Joel Kinnaman opens in theaters and on demand on July 28.
The official synopsis reads: “After being forced to drive a mysterious passenger (Nicolas Cage) at gunpoint, a man (Joel Kinnaman) finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.”

Who’s Involved in Sympathy for the Devil?
Sympathy for the Devil is directed by Yuval Adler from a screenplay by Luke Paradise. Adler directed Kinnaman in 2020’s The Secrets We Keep. The film stars Kaiwi Lyman, Burns Burns, Nancy Good, Rich Hopkins, Alexis Zollicoffer, Cameron Lee Price, Annisse White, Oliver McCallum, and Danny Tesla.
Cage continues his busy 2023 with Sympathy for the Devil. Earlier this year, Cage starred as Colton Briggs in the western The Old Way and Dracula in Renfield. Cage is set to make a cameo in the long-awaited DC film The Flash and star in the comedy action film The Retirement Plan.
Sympathy for the Devil is produced by Cage, Allan Ungar, Alex Lebovici, and Stuart Manashil. The thriller is distributed by RLJE Films.
