A much-talked music drama series is the crown jewel of the Max schedule for May 29-June 4.
Starting Sunday, June 4, Max subscribers can watch The Idol, an HBO original series starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. Co-created by Sam Levinson (Euphoria), Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim, The Idol follows a pop star dealing with a nervous breakdown. The cast includes Golden Globe nominee Troye Sivan, Hari Nef, Debby Ryan, Steve Zissis, Rachel Sennott, and K-Pop global superstar Jennie Kim of Blackpink.
Additional cast includes Sophie Mudd, Anne Heche, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga, and more.
Levinson, Tesfaye, Fahim, and Joe Epstein executive-produced the series. Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Nick Hall, Sara E. White, and Aaron Gilbert also serve as executive producers. The project hails from A24.
