Claude Lucci oversees the entrance examination. Somehow, Mash manages to pass the tests. The next test is a maze. Lemon Irvine approaches Mash and asks if she can go with him. However, Lemon keeps getting into the various traps around the maze. Later, she uses magic to put cuffs on Mash. She apologizes and tells him she has reasons for keeping him away from the goal. However, Mash breaks the cuffs and leaves her.
Suddenly, a large creature appears behind Lemon, asking her to solve a riddle. Before it could hit Lemon, Mash returns and punches the creature. To make it back in time, Mash hits through the walls of the maze. The other examinees say it’s cheating, and they want Mash to go home. Lemon tells them to stop and confesses that Claude told her she will pass if she stalls Mash. Claude then decides to fail both of them, but Mash breaks his wand.
The headmaster appears and begins the interviews. He brings Mash in first and asks him a couple of questions. He seems to be amused with Mash, who manages to pass his magic test. Mash meets his roommate, Finn Ames. He asks him how to become a Divine Visionary.
