ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Getaway teaser trailer for the moving short film by director Stephanie Malson. The short is set to premiere at the 31st Anniversary Pan African Film Festival. It will play on February 12 at 9:45 p.m., February 15 at 1:00 p.m., and February 18 at 11:15 a.m. — all as part of the festival.
“In Getaway on the backdrop of a summer of civil unrest in the United States, a Jamaican immigrant gives her bullied young son and herself a reprieve with his first trip to her homeland,” reads the short film’s synopsis. “As they ease into the change of pace, Mom gets shocking news that forces her to make a life-changing decision.”

Getaway was written and produced by Malaika Paquiot and directed by Stephanie Malson. It stars Melissa Kay Anderson, Ian Smalls Jr., and Kaci Hamilton. The short has a running time of 21 minutes.
