Invincible Live-Action Movie Update Given by Robert Kirkman

Amazon’s hit animated adaptation of the Invincible comic series seems more popular than ever, which has helped fuel discussions involving the progress of a live-action film.

Speaking to Comicbook.com in a recent look back on the series — which is celebrating its 20th anniversary — creator Robert Kirkman revealed that a live-action movie based on the series is still in development. While he didn’t delve into too many specifics on the film, he did note that the popularity of the television series has only helped when it comes to getting people to take the idea of an Invincible film project seriously.

“We’re very much still working on that,” Kirkman said. “Sometimes movies take a little bit longer. I think it’s safe to say, if anything, the show has just helped that immensely. People are very excited about that movie potential at Universal. So we’re riding that excitement and trying to push things forward as quickly as possible.”

While not too much is known about the film, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who are executive producers on the animated series) are set to write the film adaptation. Rogen also works on the Amazon series in a voice role, portraying the character Allen the Alien.

The animated series based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley’s comic book series of the same name stars Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Walton Goggins, and Chris Diamantopoulos.
