McBride used to be a brilliant lawyer, but after a murder suspect he helped get acquitted murders an entire family, he walks away from his legal career, and becomes an alcoholic. Over the seasons, the series shows McBride on a path of redemption by fighting the unjust justice system. In season 4, McBride takes on the opioid industry.
