This new hand-drawn animated short shows Oswald going to a movie theater, where he falls in love with the star of the film, Ortensia the Cat. This is the first Oswald short to be produced by Disney, largely due to the rights dispute that surrounded the character for decades. The short was directed by Eric Goldberg and produced by Dorothy McKim. Goldberg, Mark Henn, and Randy Haycock worked on the animation.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was made by Walt Disney in 1927. The character was designed by both Disney and Ub Iwerks, but in 1928, Universal obtained the rights to Oswald, leading Disney to create the iconic character Mickey Mouse. The Walt Disney Company acquired the rights to Oswald in 2006, leading to the character’s appearances in games like the Epic Mickey series and shorts like Get a Horse.
