Fans of sports anime will have something to look forward to this coming season. For the unaware, what makes Blue Lock interesting is it takes a different approach from the usual themes people see in a sports anime. Here are all the details for the premiere of Blue Lock Episode 1.
When Blue Lock Episode 1 Releases
Blue Lock Episode 1’s release date in the United States is Saturday, October 8. The episode will air in Japan on Sunday, October 9, at 1:30 a.m. JST.
For international viewers, Crunchyroll is simulcasting the series. As of writing, Crunchyroll has not announced the official airtime yet. The episode with English subtitles should be available approximately an hour and a half after it airs in Japan. In the United States, that would be at these times:
- 2:00 p.m. ET
- 1:00 p.m. CT
- 11:00 a.m. PT

Blue Lock is a manga series by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine began serializing the manga in 2018. In 2021, the series was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for the shonen category. Studio 8bit is producing the anime adaptation. Tetsuaki Watanabe (Haikyuu!!) will direct the show. Meanwhile, Shunsuke Ishikawa (The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments) will be the assistant director. Unison Square Garden is the opening theme’s artist, and Shugo Nakamura is performing the ending theme.
