God of War Series in Talks for Prime Video

God of War Series in Talks for Prime Video

Sony has been putting many of its franchises out in other mediums and now it seems as though God of War is the next one on that list. Prime Video is reportedly in talks with Sony about creating a God of War series for the streaming service.

Deadline‘s report states that the outlet has heard that The Expanse creators and executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will be working with The Wheel of Time‘s executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins, Sony Pictures Television, and PlayStation Productions. Sony and Amazon declined to comment.

The report doesn’t state where in the God of War timeline it would take place. The series was rooted in Greek mythology since its inception in 2005, but made the transition to Norse mythology in 2018. But given the adoration, recency, and more cinematic presentation of the latter, it will likely favor the Norse installments.

If it all goes through, this is yet another fantasy-based series for Prime Video as well as another video game one. Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke stated that Amazon was going to continue exploring the the fantasy genre, as evidenced by its record-breaking The Wheel of Time and the upcoming The Lord of the Rings series. The platform is also going to be the host of a Fallout series and is near a deal for a a Mass Effect one.
