The fifth anniversary of the critically acclaimed video game Nier: Automata is today, and to celebrate, Square Enix announced that it is getting an official anime adaptation.

Aniplex is producing the series and showed off a new visual and brief teaser for the upcoming anime. No other details, including its cast or potential release window, were made available at this time.

The anime will be based on the hit 2017 title created by PlatinumGames and follows the story of combat android 2B. When it launched, the game earned massive praise amongst fans and critics alike, with many complimenting it on its ability to deliver various gameplay formats while also incorporating an incredibly emotional story. Since its launch, Nier: Automata has gone on to sell over 6 million copies since its launch.
