Only Murders in the Building‘s executive producer and star Martin Short recently spoke to Deadline about the season’s upcoming second season and teased some of the guest stars that will be making an appearance.

“Before Christmas, [I shot scenes with] Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer,” Short said, confirming the appearances of both MacLaine and Schumer as guest stars. “The quality of actor that this show is attracting makes it endlessly fun to go to work.” Short also confirmed that Nathan Lane, who portrayed neighbor and foe Teddy Dimas, would also be returning to the series for its second season.
The news of the guest stars comes a month after Cara Delevingne was confirmed to be joining the series in a lead role. Production Only Murders in the Building Season 2 has also already begun, so fans can expect to hear more from the series sooner rather than later.
Only Murders in the Building hails from co-writers and co-creators Steve Martin and John Hoffman (Grace & Frankie). The series stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. The first season also featured Nathan Lane, Aaron Dominguez, and Amy Ryan.
“The series centers around three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one,” reads the Season 1 synopsis. “When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.”
