The third film in the Paramount Pictures’ movie series is being described “as more of a spin-off than a threequel” with plot details being kept under wraps. The story is said to be based on an original idea from John Krasinski, who directed, wrote, and starred in the first two installments.

Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Mud) was initially attached to write and direct the project but exited to reportedly focus on another untitled sci-fi feature for Paramount.

Krasinski will produce the film via his Sunday Night banner along with the company’s co-founder Allyson Seeger serving as executive producer. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller are also attached to produce for Platinum Dunes.
