Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and during a recent interview with Empire, director Jon Watts teased just how big the film could be.

In an interview with the director for their coverage of the film, Watts spoke about the ambition for No Way Home and compared the upcoming film to Avengers: Endgame for just how high the team behind the latest Spider-Man film is aiming.
“We’re definitely trying to be ambitious…It’s Spider-Man: Endgame,” Watts said, name dropping Endgame as their goal.
Tom Holland — the star of the film and man behind the Spider-Man mask — also briefly spoke about the film, and said he was surprised at the many aspects of the film when it was initially pitched to him.
“When I was first pitched the idea, I was like, ‘Wow, that would be awesome if we could pull it off,’” Holland said.“‘But there’s just no way it’s going to work. You’re just not going to be able to get everyone to do what they need to do. It’s just not going to happen.’ But it did happen. And it’s crazy.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home sees the return of Tom Holland as the beloved titular wall-crawler, who will now be joined by Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. They’re expected to team up against Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, who are currently the only ones that had seemingly confirmed their return. Like WandaVision, it has been confirmed that No Way Home will tie into the events of Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The third installment to the MCU’s Spider-Man films will also feature the return of most of the first two films’ cast including Emmy winner Zendaya (Euphoria, Dune) as MJ, Jacob Batalon (50 States of Fright) as Ned, Marisa Tomei (The King of Staten Island) as Aunt May, Tony Revolori (The French Dispatch) as Flash, and Hannibal Buress (Tag) as Coach Wilson.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
