Over the past week, rumors have spread that Bane would be making his DC Extended Universe debut in the upcoming Peacemaker series on HBO Max. However, director James Gunn took to social media to quickly squash any chance of that happening.

In a quote tweet that mentions another report regarding Bane making his appearance in the upcoming series starring John Cena, Gunn shot down the rumors, saying that the “scoop” noted is incorrect. Gunn went on to say that he loves Bane and isn’t opposed to seeing the Peacemaker character “getting his ass kicked,” though, so the future is always unknown. Gunn also followed that up by emphatically saying that Bane does not show up “anywhere” in the series and has “zero lines,” putting out another rumor that had spread throughout the week.

While some fans still maintain the thought that Bane will show up in the series, Gunn does have a good track record of being pretty forthcoming about things on social media. It wouldn’t be incredibly shocking to see him trying to save a surprise from being spoiled, but for now, it seems like it’s very safe to assume Bane will not be in the HBO Max show at all.
Based on the characters from DC, Peacemaker is written and created by James Gunn, who directed multiple episodes. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. The 8-episode first season is expected to make its debut in January 2022.

It will be produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series will extend the world that Gunn is creating for The Suicide Squad movie, which is scheduled to be released in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures on August 6, 2021.
