Genshin Impact’s latest update is on the horizon, and ahead of its launch next month, miHoYo has detailed what some fans can expect when Version 2.1 of the game launches.

In a post made on the PlayStation Blog, Zhenzhong Yi — miHoYo’s Studio Technical Director — outlined what to expect from the latest update when it launches on September 1. Perhaps the biggest addition to the update will be the end of the main storyline of the tumultuous nation of Inazuma, with the latest chapter, Omnipresence Over Mortals, getting introduced in the update.
As the story of Verison 2.1 unfolds, two new major islands will be made available to players in Genshin Impact. The first, Watatsumi Island, is home to the Sangonomiya Shrine and is surrounded by mountains and misty waterfalls. The second, Seirai Island, features a much more bleak, eerie, and gloomy atmosphere. This island is shrouded in perpetual violent storms, leaving the ruins, abandoned shrines, and withering trees as a reminder of what has happened in the past.
The new update will also bring with it a new Trounce Domain boss, Signora, and new boss enemies in the form of the Hydro Hypostasis and Thunder Manifestation. Three new playable characters — the Raiden Shogun, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Kujou Sara — will also be introduced into the game, with the Raiden Shogun and Kokomi will each have their own story quests as well, so players can find out the stories behind the two high-ranking women.
For PlayStation players, Genshin Impact’s Version 2.1 update also comes with some Horizon Zero Dawn-themed goodies, including the ability to play as Aloy. Players who reach Adventure Rank 20 or above during Version 2.1 and Version 2.2 will receive the five-star character and her four-star bow Predator via in-game mail when you log into the game.
