ComingSoon is excited to debut an exclusive Notorious Nick clip from the upcoming film. Based on the life of mixed martial artist Nick Newell, the film follows the unlikely success story of Newell, a congenital amputee, inside the world of cagefighting. The film is set to release Friday, August 6, 2021, in select theaters and digitally from Lionsgate and will see a DVD release on August 17.

“Even though he was born with a partial left arm, Nick Newell (Cody Christian) dreams of being a fighter. After wrestling in high school, Nick becomes a fierce competitor when his best friend, Abi, introduces him to mixed martial arts,” reads the official synopsis. “Suddenly, a tragedy provides Nick with an unexpected opportunity, but to succeed he must commit to becoming the fighter he always hoped to be. Elisabeth Röhm (American Hustle) and Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects) also star in this thrilling underdog tale based on an inspiring true story.”
In our exclusive Notorious Nick clip, we see a glimpse at Newell’s debut fight where he is implored to prove that he belongs. Despite some early struggles, Newell uses his wrestling and striking prowess to pick up a knockout win.

Notorious Nick is directed by Aaron Leong from a script by Josh Campbell & Matthew Stuecken and Darrin Reed.
Newell holds a professional record of 16-4 and currently competes in Bellator MMA.
