Pinewood Pictures announced today the addition of Ed Westwick (“Gossip Girl,” J. Edgar) and Dominic Sherwood (Not Fade Away, BBC’s “The Cut”) to the cast of director Jim Gillespie’s young adult kidnapping thriller Take Down.
Also starring Jeremy Sumpter (Into the Storm, Friday Night Lights) and Phoebe Tonkin (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals”), principal photography will commence in the UK from June 2nd on location in Isle of Man and Wales.
Directed by Jim Gillespie (I Know What You Did Last Summer) and written by Alexander Ignon (Ransom), Take Down is a Pinewood Pictures production with Sarah Ryan Black (Restoration) and Ed Elbert (Anna and the King) producing, and Steve Christian (Belle) and Stefan Brunner (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) serving as executive producers. Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling worldwide rights at the ongoing Cannes Film Market.
Take Down is a thriller focused on the wayward sons and daughters of international billionaires, who have been sent by their frustrated parents to an exclusive, tough-love boot camp on aremote island, where they will be taught basic survival skills in the hope it will teach them to take responsibility for their lives. When they are takenhostage and held for a billion dollar ransom by a group of sophisticated kidnappers, the young captives suddenly need every ounce of their brief training to survive.
Producer Ed Elbert said: “With the combination of such talented young actors, a screenplay by the writer of ‘Ransom,’ possibly cinemas’ most successful kidnapping thriller of all time, and the director of one of the most iconic teen thrillers ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer,’ we believe we have the makings of a film that will thrill global audiences.”
