MGM has released the official trailer for their upcoming apocalyptic comedy titled How It Ends, starring director-actress Zoe Lister-Jones and Cailee Spaeny, who have previously worked together on last year’s The Craft: Legacy. The film is scheduled to arrive in select theaters and on VOD on July 20.
The video, which you can check out below, features Lister-Jones’ Liza as she tries to reconnect and make amends with her friends and family before an asteroid hits the planet. Throughout her existential journey, she is joined by a younger version of herself. It also teases the appearances of a number of stars including Fred Armisen, Helen Hunt, Olivia Wilde, and more.

In this feel-good apocalyptic comedy, How It Ends centers around freewheeling Liza (Zoe Lister-Jones) who scores an invite to one last wild party before the world ends. But making it there won’t be easy, after her car is stolen, and the clock is ticking on her plan to tie up loose ends with friends and family. Accompanied by her younger self (Cailee Spaeny), Liza embarks on a hilarious journey across Los Angeles, running into an eclectic cast of characters.
Joining Lister-Jones and Spaeny are Helen Hunt, Olivia Wilde, Glenn Howerton, Finn Wolfhard, Fred Armisen, Nick Kroll, Whitney Cummings, Tawny Newsome, Logan Marshall-Green, Bradley Whitford, Paul W. How It Ends is written and directed by Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones, who are both serving as producers. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
