According to Variety, Academy Award winner Adrien Brody and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga have officially signed on for the leading roles in Ant Timpson’s upcoming mystery thriller film titled The Salamander Lives Twice. Production is expected to start in the spring of 2021.

The Salamander Lives Twice centers around an injured man (Brody) with an impenetrable briefcase and no memory who is found on the shoreline of a remote island by Iris and her daughter Goggy (Farmiga), the last remaining members of a once-prosperous family dynasty. The film will be directed by Ant Timpson (Come to Daddy) from a screenplay written by Toby Harvard based on Timpson and Harvard’s story.
On top of directing, Timpson will also serve as an executive producer along with XYZ Films, who is handling the film’s worldwide sales. The film will also be produced by Firefly Films’ Emma Slade and Katie Holly of Binder Films.

Adrien Brody is best known for his leading performance in 2002’s The Pianist which made him the youngest actor to win an Academy Award for Best Actor at the age of 29. His other notable film credits include: The Village, King Kong, Predators, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Midnight in Paris, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He will next be seen in Wes Anderson’s upcoming film The French Dispatch which has been scheduled for a 2021 release.
Vera Farmiga gained worldwide recognition for her role as Lorraine Warren in James Wan’s the Conjuring Universe films which had already earned a combined worldwide gross of more than $1.2 billion. Her other notable films include: Down to the Bone, Nothing But the Truth, Up in the Air, Higher Ground, Orphan, and Source Code. She will next be seen in the upcoming third Conjuring film titled The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
