Blake Lively To Lead Shawn Levy’s Dark Days at the Magna Carta For Netflix

Following in the footsteps of husband Ryan Reynolds (Free Guy), Blake Lively (A Simple Favor) is teaming up with director Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) for his upcoming apocalyptic thriller Dark Days at the Magna Carta, which has just been picked up by Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Scripted by rising screenwriter Michael Paisley, the story details are being kept under wraps but the film is being described as a “character-driven thriller set against a catastrophic event” and will focus on a woman trying to survive and save her family, using whatever means necessary to do so.

Lively is set to star in the project and produce through her banner B for Effort along with Kate Vorhoff and Levy through his 21 Leaps Banner with producing partner Dan Cohen. Paisley, who worked in the CAA mailroom just two years ago, has envisioned the story as a trilogy, which will give Lively another chance to be a part of a franchise after the notorious failure of 2011’s Green Lantern.

Paisley’s work got the attention of producers, who all sought the rights in a heated virtual bidding war, which ultimately landed in Cohen and Levy joining forces with Lively to acquire the project and bring it to Netflix.

Reynolds recently just partnered with Levy for the upcoming sci-fi action comedy Free Guy, on which the 43-year-old actor also produced, and just signed on to star in an upcoming time-travel film tentatively titled Our Name is Adam at Skydance.
