The film, which is being penned by podcast creator Jordan Morris, will tell the story of an unlikely group of friends who came together thanks to an Uber-like app for hunting monsters called Huntr.
The last time Goldberg and Rogen partnered for an animated project, it was for Sony Pictures’ 2016 Sausage Party, which scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and was a box office smash grossing nearly $140.7 million on a $19 million budget. After its success, the duo revealed they wanted to work on more animated films, including offering ideas for a potential sequel to Sausage Party.
The duo are set to produce the project through their banner Point Grey alongside Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Matt Tomalch through his banner. Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, James Weaver and David Manpearl are attached as executive producers, while Maximum Fun and Jordan Morris are attached as co-executive producers. The project was brought forward to Tolmach by his banner’s executive Camilla Grove.
