Empire Final Season Ending Early With Series Finale to Air this April

Last month, it was reported that major broadcast TV networks like ABC, NBC, The CW, CBS and Fox have decided that their current shows, who have been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, will not be returning to finish their intended full seasons as they consider the great cost that comes with shutting down and starting up productions.

Now, it looks like another show has been affected by this with Deadline bringing word that the sixth and final season of Fox’s Taraji P. Henson-led hip-hop drama series Empire has already been cut short and will be ending sooner than it was originally planned. Empire will be having its series finale this coming April 21 with episode 6.18.

This is not the first time that the series had suffered a major setback with former series regular Jussie Smollett getting involved in a serious felony issue as he was charged with 16 felonies after it was revealed that he had staged an attack on himself last year.

In addition to the regular cast, the series has featured guest appearances by a wide range of talented performers, including Demi Moore, Forest Whitaker, Alfre Woodard, Taye Diggs, and Phylicia Rashad.

From Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television, Empire was created by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels and Emmy Award winner Danny Strong and is executive-produced by Daniels, Strong, Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer, Ilene Chaiken, Francie Calfo, Sanaa Hamri, Brett Mahoney and Dennis Hammer.
